Pipa‘s calendar runs from New Year’s Eve beach stages to a July jazz festival and a June cachaça celebration. The guide below lists the main dates, venues and what to expect, so you can plan a trip around them.
Pipa Events and Festivals: December and New Year
Let’s Pipa (Réveillon)
Late December, ending with New Year’s Eve on December 31. Pipa’s marquee party is a week of beach stages, electronic music and open-bar events that builds to an all-inclusive Réveillon countdown on the sand. It draws headliners from the Brazilian scene and fills every pousada, so book accommodation months ahead. Expect premium tickets from roughly R$300 and up.
Mana Fest Pipa
Mid-December. An ocean-sports festival on Pipa’s beaches with surf, open-water swimming, va’a canoe and beach volleyball competitions. Registration is open to amateurs, and spectating is free from the sand. It is a good warm-up for the New Year crowd. December beach conditions are in the Pipa weather by month guide.
Pipa Events and Festivals: February and Carnaval
Carnaval da Pipa
February or early March, depending on the liturgical calendar. Pipa does Carnaval at village scale: street blocos along the main street, live shows and sunset music on Chapadão, without the crush of Recife or Salvador. The dates shift each year, so confirm before booking, and expect prices to spike over the long weekend. For the driest months around this window, see the best time to visit Pipa guide.
Pipa Events and Festivals: June
FECAPI: Festival da Cachaça e Cultura da Pipa
Typically June. A folk-culture festival built around cachaça tastings, local food and Zambê drumming, turning the clifftop town into a street party. It runs across the village centre and is mostly free to wander. This is the most local event on Pipa’s calendar.
Festas Juninas (São João)
June 23 to 24. The traditional Northeast Saint John celebration, with forró music, bonfires and corn-based foods such as canjica and pamonha sold from stalls around the village. Venues vary year to year; ask at your pousada for the nearest arraial. For places to stay near the stalls, see the where to stay in Pipa guide.
Pipa Events and Festivals: July
Fest Bossa and Jazz
July, typically starting around the second week of the month. The Northeast’s largest jazz, blues and bossa nova festival, held in Pipa for over a decade. Stages spread across the village, with around ten pocket shows a night along Avenida Baía dos Golfinhos and Rua do Céu, plus sunset sets on Chapadão. Many shows are free; headline sets are ticketed. Between sets, the things to do in Pipa guide has daytime ideas.
Pipa Events and Festivals: October
Sabores da Pipa
Usually October. Pipa’s gastronomic festival puts fixed-price menus in village restaurants and celebrates local and international cooking over a weekend. It is a good excuse to eat your way down Rua do Céu. The surrounding streets are mapped in the Pipa neighborhoods guide, and arrival details are in the Pipa travel tips page.
