Teruel’s calendar is built around one world-famous medieval re-enactment and a lively summer fiesta, plus Holy Week drumming and an autumn fair. This guide to the events and festivals in Teruel is part of our Teruel travel guide, and our travel tips for Teruel cover how to get here for each one.
Events and Festivals in Teruel: Winter and Spring
Las Bodas de Isabel de Segura (third weekend of February)
Teruel re-enacts the legend of the Lovers of Teruel over four days each February, the 2026 edition running 19 to 22 February. Around 150 actors and dozens of re-enactment groups stage the 1217 wedding of Isabel de Segura and the death of Diego de Marcilla in micro-theatre across the old town, alongside a medieval market and camp. It holds Fiesta de Interés Turístico Internacional status, and hotels sell out, so reserve rooms months ahead. The legend it recreates lives in the Lovers’ mausoleum, one of the top things to do in Teruel, and our where to stay in Teruel guide helps you sort lodging before the rush.
Semana Santa and the Ruta del Tambor (March or April)
Holy Week in Teruel belongs to the Ruta del Tambor y el Bombo, a drumming tradition shared with nine other towns in lower Aragón. Thousands of robed drummers beat bass drums continuously through the night of Maundy Thursday, reaching a climax at midnight in the Plaza del Torico. Dates move with Easter, and the processions wind through the historic center and surrounding neighborhoods.
Events and Festivals in Teruel: Summer and Autumn
La Vaquilla del Ángel (second week of July)
The city’s main fiesta, La Vaquilla del Ángel, runs for about a week around the second Sunday of July. Mornings feature the running of a vaquilla (young bull) through the old town’s streets, while evenings bring concerts, brass bands, and a firework display over the river. It coincides with warm weather, so expect highs near 31°C (88°F), and see Teruel weather by month before you pack.
Feria de San Fernando (October)
Held around the first half of October, this fair combines agricultural exhibits, livestock shows, and amusement rides on the city’s fairground, with concerts in the evenings. It is a quieter, more local event than the summer fiesta. For the overall picture of when to come, see our best time to visit Teruel guide.
