Tavira Weather by Month: Sea Temperature and Sunshine

The sea off Tavira ranges from 15°C (59°F) in February to 22°C (72°F) in August and September. That means swimming is comfortable from June through September, and brave from May and October. Sunshine is equally seasonal: December averages about 5 hours a day while July delivers up to 12. The combination of a sheltered lagoon side and the open Atlantic beach means the water at Ilha de Tavira is a degree or two cooler than the air temperature in summer.
