Weimar Neighborhoods: The Old Town (Altstadt)
The Altstadt is the historic core, a pedestrian zone centred on the Marktplatz with the City Palace, Goethe House and Schiller House all within a ten-minute walk. This is the best area for first-time visitors who want to step out of the hotel and be at the sights. It suits culture-focused couples and short-break travellers. The area around Weimar Hauptbahnhof, south of the centre, is the transit and budget zone.
