Beaune sits in the Cote d’Or department of Burgundy, about 320 km southeast of Paris, with a semi-continental climate shaped by the Saone plain and the limestone slopes of the Cote de Beaune. Winters run cold and damp, summers are warm without getting stifling, and rain falls in every month of the year. July averages 26°C (79°F) by day and 14°C (57°F) at night, while January averages 5°C (41°F) and drops to around 0°C (32°F) overnight. Total annual rainfall is roughly 700 mm spread over about 180 rain days, which is exactly the steady supply of moisture the region’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines need. See the best time to visit Beaune guide for how to match your trip to these patterns. This article is part of our Beaune weather guide.
