Bonito is a small town of about 22,000 people, so its areas are more about distance from the Centro and the attractions than traditional urban districts. Most visitors stay in one of three zones: the Centro, the Três Morros road toward the airport, or a rural fazenda along MS-178. This guide is part of the complete Bonito travel guide.
Bonito Neighborhoods: Centro (Town Center)
The Centro is a compact grid around Rua Coronel Pilad Rebuá and Praça da Liberdade. It holds the tour agencies, restaurants, supermarkets, ATMs and most bars, all within a 10-minute walk. It suits first-time visitors and anyone without a car. The where to stay in Bonito guide lists hotels and pousadas in this zone.
Bonito Neighborhoods: Três Morros and the Airport Road
The Três Morros road (Rodovia Bonito-Três Morros) runs 3 to 5 km from the center toward the airport and holds the larger resorts such as Zagaia Eco Resort. It suits families who want pools and quiet, with a car or transfer to reach the town. Average rates run R$ 450 to R$ 900 a night.
Bonito Neighborhoods: Rural Fazendas Along MS-178
Many attractions sit on working farms along MS-178, 7 to 56 km from town, and a few offer riverside pousadas such as Pousada Boyrá on the Formoso River. Staying here puts you on the doorstep of the floats and trails but far from restaurants. See the things to do in Bonito list to check which attractions sit on which road.
Bonito Neighborhoods: Jardim and the South
Jardim, 55 km south, is a smaller base near the Lagoa Misteriosa and Buraco das Araras. It is cheaper and quieter than Bonito but has fewer restaurants and agencies. Check the Bonito weather by month page for the climate, which is nearly identical to Bonito, and the Bonito events and festivals calendar for festival dates.
Bonito Neighborhoods: Choosing Your Base
The Centro is the default choice if you want to walk to dinner and the agencies. The resorts on the airport road and the riverside fazendas trade walkability for pools and nature. The best time to visit Bonito page explains how season changes prices, and the Bonito travel tips covers getting around.
