The highest temperature ever recorded in Yokohama is 37.4°C (99.3°F) on August 11, 2013. The lowest is -8.2°C (17.2°F) on January 24, 1954. Typhoon season (August through October) can bring winds exceeding 120 km/h (75 mph), though Yokohama’s position inside Tokyo Bay provides more protection than exposed Pacific coastal cities. The 2019 Typhoon Hagibis caused localized flooding in low-lying areas near the port.
