Imperia sits on the western Italian Riviera in Liguria, where the Maritime Alps drop down to the Mediterranean Sea. The city is split by the River Impero into two districts, Porto Maurizio to the west and Oneglia to the east, both fronting the same sheltered stretch of coast. Imperia has a Mediterranean climate (Koppen Csa) with mild, relatively dry winters and warm summers that stay comfortable thanks to steady sea breezes. The city receives about 796 mm (31.5 inches) of rain annually across roughly 60 rainy days, with a pronounced autumn spike in October and November. This page gives you the exact monthly numbers to plan around. Pair it with our best time to visit Imperia guide and the full Imperia travel guide.
