Leh has accommodation for every budget, from Rs 700 homestays to Rs 15,000 luxury hotels, concentrated in the Main Bazaar, Changspa and the southern residential lanes. This where to stay in Leh guide walks through three areas and gives three named hotels for each, with a luxury, mid-range and budget pick. For area-by-area context, read the Leh neighborhoods guide first, part of the full Leh travel guide.
Where to Stay in Leh: Main Bazaar and Fort Road
Main Bazaar and Fort Road put you in the centre of the action, steps from restaurants, ATMs, tour operators and the taxi and bus stands. It is the most convenient base but also the busiest, so pick a room off the main street if you sleep lightly. Expect to pay Rs 800 to Rs 4,000 a night across the area. Book ahead in peak season using the Leh weather by month guide to pick your dates.
