Monaco Weather by Month: Winter (December to February)

Winter in Monaco is mild by European standards. Daytime highs hover around 13°C (55°F) and nights drop to about 8°C (46°F). December is the cloudiest month with only 4 hours of daily sunshine. You will need a jacket and an umbrella (December averages 90 mm of rain), but snow is essentially unheard of at sea level. This is the quietest season for visitors, so hotel rates drop considerably outside of the Christmas and New Year period. See our best time to visit guide for seasonal hotel pricing.

Monaco Weather by Month: Spring (March to May)

Spring warms up steadily, with highs climbing from 15°C (59°F) in March to 20°C (68°F) by May. Rainfall is moderate at 55 mm per month, and sunshine increases from 7 to 9 hours daily. The gardens and parks around the principality come alive, and by late May the famous Monaco Grand Prix takes over the streets. Sea temperatures remain cool at 13 to 17°C (55 to 63°F), so swimming is still for the brave. Our events calendar has full Grand Prix details and dates.

Monaco Weather by Month: Summer (June to August)

Summer is hot, dry, and sunny. July and August both average highs of 27°C (81°F), though heatwaves can push temperatures above 32°C (90°F). July is the driest month with only 15 mm of rainfall. You will get 10 to 11 hours of daily sunshine, and the sea warms to a very swimmable 23 to 24°C (73 to 75°F). Humidity is moderate (65 to 70%), and the sea breeze helps keep the coastline comfortable. This is peak tourist season with the highest hotel rates and biggest crowds. Monaco Weather by Month: Autumn (September to November)

September keeps summer warmth with highs of 24°C (75°F) and sea temperatures at 22°C (72°F), making it one of the best months for beach days. But rainfall increases sharply: September gets 80 mm, and October is the wettest month at 130 mm. By November, highs drop to 16°C (61°F) and rain averages 120 mm. The Monaco Yacht Show in late September draws big crowds, so book ahead if visiting then. Check our where to stay guide for hotel recommendations during the autumn season.
