Nancy Neighborhoods: Ville Vieille, the Old Town
The Ville Vieille is the medieval core west of rue Saint-Dizier, built around the Porte de la Craffe, the cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-l’Annonciation, and the Ducal Palace housing the Musée Lorrain. Nancy Neighborhoods: Centre, around Place Stanislas
The 18th-century new town east of the old centre is anchored by Place Stanislas and its gilded gates, ringed by the Opera, the Hotel de Ville and the Musée des Beaux-Arts. Rue Stanislas and rue des Dominicains hold the main shopping streets and brasseries. This is the most convenient base and the priciest, with doubles averaging €120 to €200. Nancy Neighborhoods: Saint-Sebastien and the Station Area
South of the centre, the Saint-Sebastien district runs from the Nancy-Ville TGV station down avenue Foch toward Saint-Leon. It suits train travellers and offers the best value, with doubles from €70 to €110, plus mid-range chains like the Hôtel Stanley and ibis budget Nancy Centre. Nancy Neighborhoods: Haut-du-Lievre and the Pepiniere Fringe
North of centre, the Pepiniere park marks the edge of the historic core, and beyond it the Haut-du-Lievre estate is mostly residential with little for tourists. Around the park you’ll find student-heavy cafes and budget rooms from €60. It best suits visitors on a tight budget who don’t mind a 20-minute walk into the centre.
