The events calendar in Balneário Camboriú runs in two gears: a huge summer season from December through March, and a quieter winter calendar of food and community festivals. The two headline dates are Réveillon on December 31, which draws around one million people to Praia Central, and the free Viva Folia BC carnival in February. Here are the events to plan a trip around, with dates and locations. This calendar is part of our Balneário Camboriú travel guide.
Events in Balneário Camboriú: Réveillon (December 31)
Réveillon is the city’s biggest event of the year. About one million people gather on Praia Central for a countdown projected onto the FG Big Wheel, followed by a fireworks show of roughly nine tonnes of explosives fired from eight barges along the 7 km beachfront for about 15 minutes. The display is free, and hotels, beach clubs and rooftop bars sell premium packages with dinner and reserved viewing. Book accommodation months ahead if you want a room with a sea view, and check our where to stay in Balneário Camboriú guide for the beachfront options.
Events in Balneário Camboriú: Viva Folia BC (Carnival)
Viva Folia BC runs five free days of carnival in mid-February (in 2026 it fell on February 13 to 17). The festival spreads across three stages: the Palco Centro at Praça Almirante Tamandaré, the Palco Barra at Praça do Pescador, and the Palco Estaleiro on Rua da Praia. Street blocks parade along Avenida Atlântica on the middle days, and the programme mixes sertanejo headliners, DJs and children’s shows, with the AgroPlay Verão Festival set up on the sand at Praia Central. It is all free in the open areas, with paid VIP sectors. For the beach and cable car attractions between events, see our things to do in Balneário Camboriú guide.
Events in Balneário Camboriú: Summer Music and Beach Arenas
From December to March the seafront fills with temporary open-air arenas hosting concerts, electronic-music parties and themed nights. The summer season opens in the first week of December with the Green Valley Summer Opening, tied to the Green Valley club in nearby Camboriú, which ranks among the most famous nightclubs in the world and books international DJs through the season. Clubs like Warung and Shed run carnival and closing parties through February and March. Summer also brings the most reliable beach weather, covered in our best time to visit Balneário Camboriú guide.
Events in Balneário Camboriú: Festa dos Amigos and the City Anniversary
Winter is quieter but not empty. The Festa dos Amigos runs in July with food stalls, music and community events, and the city marks its anniversary on July 20 (Balneário Camboriú was founded in 1964). July is also the driest month of the year at 79 mm of rain, which makes these the most comfortable outdoor events of the calendar, as our Balneário Camboriú weather by month figures show. December brings themed Christmas lighting and events ahead of Réveillon.
Events in Balneário Camboriú: Neighbouring Festivals Worth the Drive
The Marejada festival in Itajaí, about 10 km north, celebrates the region’s Portuguese and Azorean fishing heritage each October with seafood, music and folkloric dancing. Farther afield, Blumenau (about 60 km) hosts the second-largest Oktoberfest in the world each October, and it makes an easy day trip combined with a Balneário Camboriú stay. For how to reach these towns, see our Balneário Camboriú travel tips, and for a sense of where everything sits, read our Balneário Camboriú neighborhoods overview.
