Santos Weather by Month: Summer (December to March)

December

December kicks off the rainy season with about 240 mm of rain and daytime highs around 28°C (82°F). Rain usually falls as short, heavy afternoon downpours, so mornings are often clear. This is a busy month for the beach, with the school holidays starting mid-month. Pack a light rain jacket and expect humid nights near 22°C.

January

January is the wettest month at around 310 mm and one of the hottest, with highs of 29°C (84°F) and lows of 24°C (75°F). The heat and humidity combine for a sticky feel, and rain can arrive on 15 or more days. Beach crowds peak during the summer holidays, so book your Santos hotel well ahead if you travel now.

February

February averages a 28.5°C high, making it the warmest month, with about 250 mm of rain. Carnival often falls in February, drawing big crowds to the beach and street parades. Sea temperatures hold at 26°C (79°F), the warmest of the year. Afternoon storms are common, so plan outdoor activities for the morning.

March

March starts to cool slightly, with highs near 28°C (82°F) and rainfall easing to about 210 mm. The tail of summer is still hot and humid, but the worst of the afternoon storms taper off late in the month. The sea stays at 26°C (79°F).

Santos Weather by Month: Autumn (April to June)

April

April is a transition month, with highs dropping to 26°C (79°F) and rainfall down to about 140 mm. Humidity eases and the beach is far less crowded once the summer holidays end after Easter. This is one of the better months for sightseeing, when the Santos attractions like the Coffee Museum and Monte Serrat are comfortable to visit on foot and the Santos neighborhoods are easy to explore.

May

May brings highs of 24°C (75°F) and lows of 19°C (66°F), with about 100 mm of rain. Days are pleasant and nights turn mild enough for a light jacket after sunset. The sea cools to 23°C (73°F), still fine for swimming for most people. This is a quieter, lower-price month to visit.

June

June is the start of winter, with highs of 23°C (73°F), lows of 18°C (64°F) and about 90 mm of rain. It is noticeably drier than summer, though cold fronts from the south can bring a few grey, drizzly days. The Santos events calendar is thinner now, which suits travelers who want empty beaches.

Sunshine is still reliable, and the Santos Jazz Festival runs in late July, giving a reason to visit beyond the beach.

August

August matches July for dryness at roughly 90 mm and is the driest month overall. Highs climb slightly to 23°C (73°F). Winter in Santos is mild compared to most of Brazil, and you will still see locals on the sand on sunny afternoons. Bring a sweater for breezy evenings along the beach garden.

September

September begins the climb back to summer, with highs of 23°C (73°F) and rainfall rising to about 120 mm. Spring weather is changeable, alternating between clear days and passing fronts.
