Cholula sits at 2,150 metres (7,050 ft) on the Puebla plateau, so it has a mild, spring-like highland climate all year instead of the tropical heat people expect from Mexico. Daytime highs stay between 23 C and 28 C every month, nights drop to single digits from November to February, and almost all of the rain falls in a single June to September wet season. For the wider city picture, start with our Cholula guide before diving into the monthly numbers below.
Cholula Weather by Month: The Dry Season, November to April
November through April is the dry season and the most comfortable stretch of the year. December is the driest month with about 7 mm of rain, January gets roughly 3 mm, and February about 6 mm. Days are clear and sunny, highs run 23 to 28 C (73 to 82 F), and nights cool to 4 to 10 C (40 to 50 F). Bring a warm jacket for after sunset, because the temperature drops fast at this elevation.
March and April are the warmest months before the rains start, with April highs reaching 28 C (82 F). April gets about 35 mm of rain, mostly as the first scattered afternoon showers. If you want dry heat without the wet-season clouds, late February to early April is the sweet spot, and it lines up with the spring equinox crowds at the pyramid. Cholula Weather by Month: The Rainy Season, May to October
The wet season runs from May to October and delivers about 85 percent of the year’s 800 to 900 mm of rainfall. Rain comes as heavy afternoon and evening downpours, rarely all-day events. May already gets about 84 mm, then June, July, August and September each bring 125 to 140 mm, with September the wettest at about 135 mm. You can still tick off most of the things to do in Cholula if you plan outdoor sights for the mornings.
The payoff is the landscape: the agave and corn fields around Cholula turn deep green, and the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes are at their clearest right after a storm clears the haze. Mornings stay sunny, so keep a rain jacket or umbrella for the late afternoon. If you plan to split your time between zones, the Cholula neighborhoods guide maps where everything sits.

Cholula Weather by Month: Sunshine, Humidity and What to Pack
Cholula gets strong high-altitude sun, so UV protection matters even on cool days, and humidity stays moderate year-round because the city is inland and elevated. Sunshine hours peak in the dry season, when clear skies are common. At night the temperature regularly falls 15 C or more below the daytime high, so layers are the rule. Many of the where to stay in Cholula hotels have interior courtyards and pools that make the cool evenings easier.
Pack a sun hat and SPF 50 for the daytime, a fleece or light down jacket for the evenings, and comfortable walking shoes for the pyramid and the cobbled centre. In the wet season add a compact umbrella and a quick-dry layer.
