Kaş’s event calendar is anchored by the Lycian Culture and Art Festival, with national holidays and the moving dates of Ramadan layered on top. Most events are free, and the harbour and old town are the usual venues. For guidance on the best month to catch them, see the best time to visit Kaş page, and for the rest of the Kaş travel guide start there.
Kaş Events: International Lycian Culture and Art Festival
The International Lycian Culture and Art Festival is a three-day event held in late June in most years, with an opening parade, open-air concerts, dance and theatre performances, and art exhibitions across town. Some editions have shifted to September, so confirm the exact dates on the municipality’s announcements before booking. Entry is generally free, and the parade runs along the harbourfront. It is the busiest cultural weekend of the year, so reserve accommodation early, using the where to stay in Kaş guide to find rooms.
Kaş Events: Republic Day (29 October)
Cumhuriyet Bayramı on 29 October celebrates the founding of the Turkish Republic with a flag parade along the main streets, school performances and fireworks over the harbour in the evening. Banks and government offices close for the day, but restaurants and shops stay open, and the atmosphere on the waterfront is lively. Late October is also mild and mostly dry, as the Kaş weather by month data shows, so it is a comfortable time to visit.
Kaş Events: Ramadan and Eid
Ramadan and the following Eid (Şeker Bayramı) move back about 10 days each year on the Gregorian calendar. Kaş remains open for tourists during Ramadan, but many restaurants fill up after sunset, and domestic travel surges during the Eid holiday, so hotels book out and bus tickets get scarce. The bigger Kurban Bayramı (Feast of Sacrifice) in summer is the single busiest domestic travel week in Turkey. If your dates overlap, book rooms and transport weeks ahead, and see the Kaş travel tips guide for how to get around once you arrive.
Kaş Events: Summer Concerts and Weekly Markets
Through June to September, the harbourfront and the outdoor cafes host small live music nights, and the weekly produce market sets up on Fridays selling fruit, olives, cheese and honey. The Friday market is the place to buy local goods at local prices rather than tourist shops. Most summer events are unannounced and low-key, which suits the town’s relaxed character. Between events, the things to do in Kaş list has the attractions that fill the rest of your days.
Kaş Events: New Year
New Year in Kaş is quiet compared with Antalya or Fethiye. A handful of harbourfront restaurants run set dinners and the bay sees small fireworks at midnight, but there is no large public party. Many hotels offer winter packages over the holiday, and it is one of the few winter dates when the town feels alive. For where the restaurants and hotels are concentrated, see the Kaş neighborhoods guide.
