Puerto Peñasco‘s event calendar is dominated by two big American-style weekends, the Rocky Point Rally in November and Bike Week in spring, plus the Mexican holiday calendar that fills the town each Easter. Most events happen on the malecón or Sandy Beach, and hotel rooms sell out fast for the big weekends, so book early.
Puerto Peñasco Events in Fall: Rocky Point Rally
Rocky Point Rally
The biggest event of the year, a four-day motorcycle rally held the second week of November on the malecón and Sandy Beach. It draws more than 10,000 riders from the US and Mexico for live music, bike shows, and vendor rows. The 2025 edition ran November 6 to 9 and the 2026 edition is set for November 7 to 10. Reserve rooms months ahead, and check the where to stay guide for the best bases.
Puerto Peñasco Events in Winter and Spring
Semana Santa (Holy Week)
The week before Easter is the busiest domestic tourism period on the Mexican calendar, when families from Sonora and Arizona pack Playa Bonita and the malecón. Beach camping and hotel prices peak, and some restaurants run special seafood menus. Dates shift each year, so check the calendar before booking.
Spring Break
From late February through March, American college crowds arrive, with the busiest stretch in mid-March. Expect crowded beach clubs on Sandy Beach, higher minimum spends at beachfront bars, and louder nights on the malecón. If you want a quiet trip, avoid the two weeks around St. Patrick’s Day.
Puerto Peñasco Bike Week
A spring motorcycle rally usually held in late March or early April, smaller than the November rally but still filling the town with riders, bike shows, and poker runs. Dates vary year to year, so confirm on the event’s official pages before you book.

Sport Fishing Tournaments
Several one-day and weekend fishing tournaments run from late spring through fall, targeting sea bass, grouper, and yellowtail, with cash prizes and weigh-ins on the malecón. The biggest draw local anglers and US teams; entry fees typically run 200 to 500 USD per boat. For the gear and charters, see our things to do in Puerto Peñasco guide.
New Year’s Eve on the Beach
The town celebrates December 31 with fireworks over the Sea of Cortez, live music on the malecón, and beach parties at the Sandy Beach resorts. Many hotels sell tickets to their own dinners and rooftop parties, and December’s mild highs near 20°C (68°F) are in the weather by month guide.
Sea Turtle Hatchling Releases
From October through December, conservation groups host beach releases of olive ridley and other sea turtle hatchlings, usually at dusk. Several are free or donation-based and open to the public; ask at CEDO or your hotel for the next scheduled release.
