Yangshuo has a humid subtropical climate (Koppen Cfa) shaped by the karst hills of the Li River valley. The town averages 19.7°C (67.5°F) across the year and receives roughly 1,800 mm (71 in) of rain, most of it falling between April and August when the East Asian monsoon sits over Guangxi. Summers are hot and wet, winters are mild and damp, and the clearest, most comfortable stretch runs from late September through November. The month-by-month figures below cover every season.

January is the coldest month at 13°C (55°F) by day and 5°C (41°F) at night. February is only slightly warmer but can be drizzly, with about 83 mm (3.3 in) of rain. Snow is rare; the surrounding peaks stay green through winter. Summer is the hottest and wettest stretch. July and August both average 33°C (91°F), with lows that barely drop below 25°C (77°F) at night. June gets the year’s heaviest rain at 320 mm (12.6 in), and downpours can flood low-lying sections of West Street for an afternoon. Rain drops sharply in September to 90 mm (3.5 in) and October to 71 mm (2.8 in), while temperatures ease back to 27°C (81°F) by October. This is the best window for clear views of the karst peaks. Yangshuo Weather by Month: What to Pack
- April to September: lightweight clothes, a compact umbrella, quick-dry layers, and sunscreen. Temperatures stay above 25°C (77°F) most days.
- October to March: a warm layer for nights, a light rain jacket, and closed shoes for muddy trails. A fleece is enough; you will not need heavy winter gear.
