Mykonos has a classic Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. The island averages 300 days of sunshine per year and sits in the central Aegean Sea, where the famous meltemi winds blow from the north between June and September. See our Mykonos travel tips for more details. These winds can reach 50 km/h (31 mph) on exposed beaches but also keep humidity bearable when mainland Greece swelters. Sea temperatures range from a brisk 16 degrees Celsius (61 degrees Fahrenheit) in February to a comfortable 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) in August.
