Vancouver Events and Festivals: Spring (March to May)
Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival
Late March through late April, citywide. Over 40,000 cherry trees bloom throughout Vancouver, with peak bloom typically in the first two weeks of April. The festival runs guided tree walks (CA$10), Cherry Jam concert at Burrard SkyTrain station, and Bike the Blossoms group rides. Vancouver Sun Run
Third Sunday in April (April 19, 2026). Canada’s largest 10km road race with 40,000 to 50,000 participants. See our best time to visit guide for more information. The course starts on Georgia Street downtown and finishes at BC Place. Registration is CA$65 to CA$85 depending on how early you sign up. Roads close throughout downtown and the West End on race morning; plan transit accordingly.

Vancouver International Jazz Festival

Over 300 performances at 35 venues across the city, ranging from free outdoor concerts at David Lam Park and Granville Island to ticketed shows at the Vogue Theatre and Pyatt Hall. Honda Celebration of Light
Late July to early August (three nights: usually the last Saturday in July, and the following Wednesday and Saturday). An international fireworks competition held over English Bay, with three countries competing across three nights. Each show runs approximately 25 minutes starting at 10 pm. See our where to stay guide for more information. Crowds reach 300,000 to 400,000 per night. Claim a spot on English Bay Beach by 5 pm for a good view, or buy grandstand tickets at the English Bay Bathhouse (CA$55 to CA$65). The West End becomes pedestrian-only; transit is the only practical way in. SkyTrain runs extended hours on fireworks nights.
Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival
First weekend in August (parade Sunday August 2, 2026). See our travel tips and FAQ for more information. The Pride Parade runs along Robson Street and Denman Street to Sunset Beach, with over 100 floats and 650,000 spectators. The festival at Sunset Beach follows with live music and vendor booths. Free to attend. Vancouver’s Pride is one of North America’s largest.
Vancouver Events and Festivals: Autumn (September to November)
Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF)
Late September to early October (September 24 to October 9, 2026). VIFF screens approximately 350 films from 70 countries across seven downtown venues, including the Vancouver Playhouse and the Rio Theatre. Single tickets cost CA$15 to CA$17; festival passes range from CA$100 to CA$450. The festival has a strong documentary and East Asian cinema program.
Vancouver Fringe Festival
Early September (approximately September 10 to 20, 2026). Unjuried theatre festival with 80+ shows across Granville Island venues. Tickets are CA$15 to CA$20 per show. The Fringe Bar at Granville Island is the social hub each evening. 100 percent of ticket revenue goes directly to the artists.
Vancouver Events and Festivals: Winter (December to February)
Vancouver Christmas Market
Late November to December 24. A German-style Christmas market at Jack Poole Plaza (outside the Vancouver Convention Centre) with 80+ artisan huts selling ornaments, gifts, and European food. Admission is CA$15 to CA$20 adult (discounts online). The walk-in Christmas tree with 36,000 lights is the centerpiece. Open daily 11:30 am to 9:30 pm (closes at 6 pm on December 24).
Dine Out Vancouver Festival
Mid-January to early February (approximately January 16 to February 1, 2026). Canada’s largest food and drink festival, with over 300 restaurants offering prix-fixe menus at CA$25, CA$35, CA$45, or CA$65 for three courses. Reservations open in early January and fill up fast for popular restaurants. The festival also includes guided food tours, cocktail masterclasses, and the Street Food City food truck event at the Vancouver Art Gallery plaza.
Other Notable Vancouver Events and Festivals
- Vancouver International Wine Festival (late February to early March): North America’s premier wine event with 140+ wineries, tastings, and dinners. Tickets from CA$75.
- Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival (June to September): Professional Shakespeare productions in open-ended tents at Vanier Park against a mountain backdrop. Tickets CA$25 to CA$70.
- Taiwanfest (August/September long weekend): Free multicultural festival downtown with Taiwanese and Asian-Canadian music, food, and performances.
