Kaş is a small harbour town on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, about 190km southwest of Antalya, known for its scuba diving, the sunken city of Kekova and the long Lycian Way hiking trail. It has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, with dry, sunny summers averaging 32C (90F) in July and mild, wet winters around 14C (57F) in January. Use this Kaş travel guide to plan your trip, and follow the links below to the detailed articles for each part of your visit.
Welcome to Kaş
Kaş sits on a peninsula between the Taurus mountains and the Mediterranean, built on the ancient Lycian city of Antiphellos. A resident population of about 8,000 swells several times over in summer, yet the town keeps a slower pace than Fethiye or Antalya. The harbour is the centre of daily life: dive boats and Kekova day-trip boats leave from here each morning, and the bazaar and waterfront restaurants fill after sunset. There is no airport or train station in Kaş, which is exactly why it has avoided the over-development of the larger resorts.
Weather in Kaş at a Glance

July and August average 32C to 33C (90F to 91F) by day and 22C (72F) at night with only 3mm of rain each month, while January averages 14C (57F) with 182mm of rain. The town receives about 830mm of rain a year, nearly all of it from November to February. The sea stays above 21C (70F) from May to November, peaking at 28C (82F) in August, which gives Kaş one of the longest swimming and diving seasons on the Turkish coast.
