A Coruña has a mild Atlantic climate (Köppen Cfb) that sets it apart from the rest of Spain. The city sits on Galicia’s north-west coast, fully exposed to Atlantic westerlies, so it gets about 1,000 mm of rain a year spread over roughly 130 rainy days, and temperatures stay between about 8°C and 24°C in all 12 months. Snow and frost are rare at sea level. This A Coruña weather by month guide covers exactly what to expect, month by month.

A Coruña Weather by Month: Sea Temperatures and Swimming

Sea temperatures run from about 13°C (55°F) in February to 19°C (66°F) in August, so the swimming season is short, roughly July to mid-September, and even then many locals wear a wetsuit. Surfers use the city beaches of Riazor and Orzán all year. For beach logistics and the best months to swim, see the A Coruña neighborhoods guide and the A Coruña travel tips section on what to pack.
