Madrid’s event calendar blends Catholic traditions with contemporary festivals, and the city’s love of late nights ensures most celebrations continue well past midnight. This guide covers the best Madrid events and festivals.

San Isidro (May 15)

Madrid’s patron saint festival brings bullfights, concerts, and street parties. Locals dress in traditional chulapo attire. The Pradera de San Isidro park fills with picnicking families and churro stands. The festival runs for several days around May 15th. Free concerts in Plaza Mayor and other venues.

Madrid Pride (Late June to Early July)

One of Europe’s largest Pride celebrations, drawing over a million people. The parade through the city centre is the centerpiece. The Chueca neighbourhood hosts street parties throughout the week. Free to attend. Book accommodation well ahead; the city fills up.

Veranos de la Villa (July to August)

Madrid’s summer cultural festival fills the city with open-air cinema, concerts in parks, and theatre in courtyards. Events span the entire summer. Many are free. The program is released in June. Check the official website for the schedule.
