Seville’s travel seasons are defined almost entirely by temperature and two major festivals. The city’s summer (June through September) brings heat that regularly exceeds 35°C (95°F) and occasionally tops 40°C (104°F), fundamentally changing how you experience the city.
Spring and fall offer near-perfect sightseeing weather but coincide with Semana Santa (Easter week) and Feria de Abril, two events that send hotel prices through the roof. This guide uses data from the Seville weather by month guide to help you pick the right window.
Best Time to Visit Seville for Good Weather
The best weather months are March, April, May
October. March delivers 22°C (72°F) highs and 42mm rain. April provides 24°C (75°F) and 8 hours of sun. May offers 28°C (82°F) and just 34mm of rain before the summer furnace ignites. October brings relief at 26°C (79°F) with more rain (78mm) but comfortable walking temperatures. Avoid July and August for weather reasons: 36°C (97°F) average highs with virtually zero rain and 12 hours of blistering sun make midday sightseeing punishing.
Best Time to Visit Seville for Lower Prices and Fewer Crowds
Seville’s cheapest and quietest months are January, July, August
November (excluding holidays). January gives you 16°C (61°F) days, empty Seville attractions, and hotel prices at 40-50% below spring peaks. July and August are cheap because the heat deters visitors: you’ll find 4-star hotels at €80-120 that would cost €200-300 during Feria. November brings rain (91mm) but the lowest prices of the fall season.
Best Time to Visit Seville for Festivals
Seville’s two blockbuster events dictate the city’s pricing calendar. Semana Santa (Holy Week, the week before Easter) fills the city with religious processions, incense, and some of Spain’s most dramatic pasos (religious floats). Feria de Abril runs two weeks after Easter, transforming the Real de la Feria into a private tent city of flamenco, sherry, and horse carriages.
If you’re visiting for either, book 6-12 months ahead and expect to pay 3-4x standard hotel rates. See the Seville events calendar for exact dates. The Bienal de Flamenco (September-October in even-numbered years) is a major draw with less extreme price inflation.
Best Time to Visit Seville: Month-by-Month Verdict
- January-February: Mild (16-18°C), quiet, affordable. Good for sightseeing without crowds.
- March-April: Best weather (22-24°C). Easter/Feria chaos if dates overlap. Otherwise perfect.
- May: Last comfortable month (28°C). Can overlap with early Feria. Excellent if no event conflict.
- June-September: Hot to extreme (32-36°C). Visit only if you tolerate heat. July/August are cheap but punishing.
- October: Pleasant (26°C) with rain. Bienal de Flamenco in even years. Good value.
- November-December: Cooling (17-20°C), rainy. Low prices except Christmas week. Orange trees in fruit.
