Cádiz has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Csa) with strong Atlantic Ocean influence that keeps summer heat more moderate than inland Andalusia. The city averages 18.0°C (64.4°F) annually and receives around 525 mm (20.7 in) of rainfall, almost all of it falling between October and April. Sunshine is abundant year-round at roughly 3,000 hours annually, making Cádiz one of Spain’s sunniest cities. The famous Levante wind, a warm easterly from the Sahara, can push temperatures above 35°C (95°F) for short spells in summer, while the Poniente (westerly) brings cooler Atlantic air.
