Where is Faro?
Faro sits on Portugal’s southern coast, roughly 280 km (174 miles) south of Lisbon and 200 km (124 miles) west of Seville, Spain. The city occupies a narrow strip between the Atlantic Ocean and the Ria Formosa lagoon system. Faro Airport (FAO) is 7 km west of the city centre, handling direct flights from most major European cities. The train station is the terminus of the Algarve Line with connections to Lagos (1h45m), Albufeira (35m), Tavira (40m), and Lisbon (3h). Spain is close enough for a day trip: Seville is about 2 hours by car.
