Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate with three seasons: cool dry, hot dry, and wet. Yangon averages 24°C in January and 30°C in April, with the monsoon bringing heavy rain from May to October. Bagan and Mandalay in the central dry zone are hotter: summer temperatures push above 40°C in April and May before the monsoon arrives. The cool dry season (November to February) is the best time to visit, with temperatures of 20-30°C and clear skies across the country. Inle Lake in Shan State stays cooler year-round at 15-25°C due to its 880m elevation. Rainy season travel is possible but many beach destinations and remote roads become inaccessible from June to September.
