Mauritius has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, influenced by southeast trade winds. Port Louis averages 22-30°C, with summer from November to April (hot, humid, afternoon downpours) and winter from May to October (cooler, drier). The east and south coasts are windier year-round, making them popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The west and north coasts are more sheltered with calmer seas and warmer water. Cyclone season runs from December to March, with January and February being the highest-risk months. The best time to visit is May to early December, with September and October offering the best combination of warm weather and low rainfall.
