Malaysia has a tropical climate with high humidity and temperatures of 25-33°C year-round, divided by the southwest and northeast monsoons. Kuala Lumpur gets rain throughout the year (about 200 rainy days), with the wettest months from October to December and March to April. Penang and Langkawi on the west coast are driest from December to March, while the east coast (Perhentian Islands, Tioman, Redang) is best from March to October. The east coast monsoon (November to February) brings heavy rain and rough seas, closing most island resorts during this period. Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak) has a more evenly distributed rainfall pattern, though October to January is the wettest period. The Cameron Highlands offer a cool escape at 1,500m elevation, with temperatures of 15-22°C year-round.
