Laos

Laos has a tropical monsoon climate with three seasons: cool dry, hot dry, and rainy. Vientiane averages 22Β°C in January and 29Β°C in April, with the monsoon (May to October) bringing 80 per cent of annual rain. Luang Prabang is cooler in the dry season (November to February), with mornings dipping to 12Β°C in December and January. The cool dry season (November to February) is the best time to visit, with clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and the Mekong at its lowest (best for river travel). The hot season (March to May) brings temperatures above 35Β°C across the country and smoky air from agricultural burning, particularly in the north. Southern Laos (Si Phan Don, Bolaven Plateau) stays lush year-round and is most pleasant from November to February.
