July and August are the peak summer months with daytime highs averaging 29°C to 31°C (84°F to 88°F) and overnight lows around 20°C to 22°C (68°F to 72°F). Sea temperatures peak at 26°C (79°F) in August, making it the best month for swimming and water sports. The water stays comfortably warm from June through September (22°C to 26°C / 72°F to 79°F). Spring (March to May)

Spring warms up gradually. March still feels cool with highs around 15°C (59°F) and occasional rain, but by May you’ll get 22°C (72°F) days and 9 hours of sunshine. Sea temperatures are still cool (15°C to 19°C), so swimming is for the hardy only.

Summer (June to August)

Summer is hot, sunny, and almost entirely dry. July and August see just 2 to 3 rainy days each, with temperatures regularly reaching 30°C to 31°C (86°F to 88°F). Humidity is moderate thanks to sea breezes. The sirocco, a hot wind from North Africa, can push temperatures above 35°C (95°F) for 2 to 3 days at a time, typically 4 to 6 times per summer. Autumn (September to November)

September is still summer-like with 27°C (81°F) days and sea temperatures at 24°C (75°F), but crowds thin out after the first week. Rain picks up in October (90mm, 8 rainy days), and by November the weather turns noticeably wetter and cooler. November averages 105mm of rain over 10 days with highs dropping to 18°C (64°F). Winter (December to February)

Winters are mild by European standards but wet. Daytime temperatures hover between 13°C and 14°C (55°F to 57°F), dipping to 7°C to 8°C (45°F to 46°F) at night. December and January each bring about 110mm of rain across 10 to 11 rainy days. Snow is virtually unheard of at sea level in Tropea, though you’ll see it on the Sila mountains about 100km inland.
