August

Ferragosto (August 15) marks the peak holiday period when many local businesses close for 1-2 weeks. Beach towns are crowded but the mountain villages remain peaceful. The grape harvest begins in the surrounding Colline Teramane wine region. The Interamnia Handball Cup typically takes place this month.

Average high of 19°C (66°F), low of 11°C (52°F). About 105mm of rain as autumn sets in properly. The hillsides turn gold and red with autumn foliage. Truffle and mushroom foraging season peaks in the Gran Sasso forests. Still pleasant for sightseeing in the historic center with fewer tourists.
November
Average high of 14°C (57°F), low of 7°C (45°F). The wettest month with 157mm of rainfall across 10-11 rainy days. Grey skies dominate and the first snow dusts the mountain peaks. Indoor activities and museum visits become the focus. Olive harvest concludes in the surrounding hills.
December
Average high of 10°C (50°F), low of 4°C (39°F). About 95mm of rain, occasionally mixing with snow in the city. Festa di San Berardo on December 19 brings the patron saint celebrations. Christmas markets appear in Piazza Martiri della Liberta. Daylight is limited to roughly 9 hours.
