Paris Events & Festivals

France β€Ί Île-de-France β€Ί Paris

Paris’s event calendar blends centuries-old traditions with cutting-edge contemporary culture. From the summer music festival that takes over the streets to Christmas markets and the July 14th military parade, this guide covers the best Paris events and festivals.

Fete de la Musique (June 21)

On the summer solstice, Paris becomes a free music festival. Musicians of every genre perform on street corners, in parks, and at official venues across the city. The atmosphere is joyful and the weather is typically pleasant. Free to attend. The metro runs late. Arrive with no plan and follow the music.

Bastille Day (July 14)

France’s national day features a military parade on the Champs-Elysees in the morning and fireworks at the Eiffel Tower in the evening. The Champ de Mars fills with spectators for the fireworks. Arrive early to claim a spot. Many museums and attractions operate on holiday schedules. The fire stations’ balls (Bals des Pompiers) on July 13th and 14th are a beloved tradition.

Christmas and New Year

Paris at Christmas is magical. The Champs-Elysees lights, the Christmas market at the Tuileries Garden, and festive window displays at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps create a fairy-tale atmosphere. New Year’s Eve brings fireworks and celebrations along the Champs-Elysees. Book accommodation and restaurants well ahead for the holiday period. January brings the soldes (sales).
