Ethiopia

Ethiopia has a highland climate with temperatures determined by altitude, and a unique 13-month calendar. Addis Ababa at 2,355m has a mild climate year-round: 10-24Β°C, with the main rainy season from June to September. The Danakil Depression is one of the hottest places on Earth, with daytime temperatures of 40-50Β°C year-round, best visited from November to February. Lalibela and the historic north are best visited from October to March when roads are passable and skies are clear. The Omo Valley is accessible year-round but the dry season (October to March) offers easier travel conditions. The Simien Mountains are best trekked from September to November after the rains when the landscape is green and views are clear.
