Egypt

Egypt has a desert climate with hot summers, mild winters, and virtually no rain outside the narrow Mediterranean coast. Cairo averages 14°C in January and 28°C in July, with summer temperatures reaching 38°C during heatwaves. Luxor and Aswan in Upper Egypt are hotter: summer highs of 40°C, winter days a pleasant 23°C with cool nights at 8°C. The Red Sea resorts (Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh) offer year-round sun with summer temperatures of 33°C and winter temperatures of 22°C. Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast is milder: summer highs of 29°C, winter highs of 18°C with most of Egypt’s limited rain falling from December to February. The best time for sightseeing is October to April when daytime temperatures are 20-28°C.
