Haikou’s hotels split into three main clusters: the beach resorts of the West Coast, the business and sightseeing hotels of the city center, and the resort and airport options on the Meilan side. Prices are low by Chinese coastal-city standards and swing sharply with the seasons, peaking around Spring Festival and dropping 30-50% in the summer wet season. Here is where to stay in Haikou by area, part of our Haikou travel guide.
Where to Stay in Haikou: West Coast and Holiday Beach (Xiuying District)
The west coast is the beach holiday zone, a 20-minute drive from the center, with Holiday Beach and a run of resorts on Binhai Avenue. Pick this area for sand, pools, sunsets and golf, and accept the taxi rides into town for sightseeing. Beach weather peaks in the dry season covered in our best time to visit Haikou guide.
