This Porto Seguro travel guide covers everything else you need, from beaches to hotels.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: Climate at a Glance

Porto Seguro has two loose seasons: a warm, wetter summer-to-autumn stretch from November to June, and a cooler, drier winter from July to October. Rain tends to fall as short, heavy afternoon showers rather than all-day drizzle, so most days still deliver several hours of beach sun. Use the table below to plan around both temperature and rainfall, and see the best time to visit Porto Seguro guide for what each season means in practice.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: January to March

January and February are the hottest months, with highs of 29°C (84°F) and overnight lows around 24°C (75°F), plus warm 27°C sea water. Rain is moderate at 78 to 81 mm. March keeps the heat but rainfall jumps to 121 mm as the wet season builds. This is peak summer holiday season for Brazilian travelers, so beaches are full and hotel rates peak. It is also when the town’s summer festival calendar runs at full speed.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: April to June

April is the wettest month of the first half of the year at 123 mm, and the heat starts to ease with highs of 28°C (82°F). By June, highs drop to 25°C (77°F) and lows to 21°C (70°F), with 85 mm of rain. The June São João festivals overlap with this cooler, slightly wetter weather, so bring a light layer for evenings. Accommodation in the quieter neighborhoods is also cheaper in these months.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: July to September

July and August are the coolest months, with highs of 25°C (77°F) and lows of 20°C (68°F), and they are also the driest: August averages just 67 mm. September stays dry at 64 mm and begins to warm. This winter stretch offers the clearest skies and calmest seas, ideal for the boat trips and snorkelling out to the Recife de Fora reef, and crowds are far smaller than in summer.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: October to December

October warms back up to highs of 26°C (79°F) with 108 mm of rain. November is the wettest month of the year at 157 mm as the summer storm season returns, with highs of 27°C (81°F). December settles at 28°C (82°F) highs and 140 mm of rain, and the town fills up for Reveillon New Year parties. Book your hotel well ahead if you are coming for New Year.

Porto Seguro Weather by Month: What to Pack

  • Year-round: Light cotton clothing, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a hat. Evenings rarely drop below 20°C, so a light jumper is enough in winter.
  • March to June and November: A compact rain jacket or umbrella for heavy afternoon showers.
  • July to September: The mildest stretch, but water shoes help on rocky reef sections.
