Where to stay in Khao Lak comes down to three beach strips: Nang Thong for pier access and town convenience, Bang Niang for restaurants and nightlife, and Khuk Khak for big family resorts. Most accommodation is low-rise resorts rather than city hotels, and many close or run reduced service in the May-to-October low season. Start with our Khao Lak travel guide for an overview, then here’s a hotel pick for each area across three budgets. For a map of the areas, see our Khao Lak beach areas guide.

Where to Stay in Khao Lak: Nang Thong Beach and Town

Nang Thong Beach puts you closest to Thap Lamu pier for Similan Islands day trips and within walking distance of the town centre’s banks and tour offices. It’s the best base if you’re diving most days, with Similan Islands trips covered in our things to do in Khao Lak guide. Our Khao Lak weather by month guide shows the months when the sea is calmest and the islands are open.
