Guwahati Weather in Winter (November to February)
November to February is the dry season. Daytime highs sit between 24°C (75°F) in January and 28°C (82°F) in November, while nights drop to 11 to 17°C (52 to 63°F). December is the driest month with only 6 mm of rain, followed by January at 12 mm. Morning fog on the Brahmaputra can delay flights at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in December and January, so book a late-morning flight if your schedule is tight. See the best time to visit guide for the full picture of the peak season. See our where to stay guide for more.
Guwahati Weather in Spring and Pre-Monsoon (March to May)
Temperatures climb fast from March. By April and May, daytime highs reach 31 to 32°C (88 to 90°F) and the humidity builds ahead of the monsoon. Rain jumps from 60 mm in March to 190 mm in April and 245 mm in May, mostly as afternoon thunderstorms. The most violent of these is the Bordoisila storm, a nor’wester that arrives in April with strong gusts and short, heavy downpours. Power cuts are common during these squalls, so carry a power bank. See our travel tips guide for more.
Guwahati Weather in the Monsoon (June to September)
The southwest monsoon hits in early June and runs through September. July is the wettest month with 325 mm of rain, June adds 295 mm, and August 265 mm, and it rains on 13 to 16 days each month. Daytime highs stay around 33°C (91°F) but humidity of 80 to 85 percent makes it feel hotter. River levels rise and the Brahmaputra can flood low-lying areas, though the cruise operators on the things to do list still sail year-round except on days of extreme high water. Guwahati Weather in October
October is the transition month. Rain falls off to about 120 mm, humidity eases, and daytime highs settle near 31°C (88°F). The sky clears through the month, which is why October marks the start of the comfortable tourist season alongside the Kati Bihu and Durga Puja festivals and the first weeks of the wildlife safari season.
