Corfu’s tourist season runs from Easter through late October, but the island offers something different in every stretch. The short version: visit in May, June, or September for warm weather, warm sea, and fewer crowds than the July-August peak. Here is the month-by-month logic with real numbers so you can pick based on what matters to you. For more, see our things to do in Corfu guide.
Best Time to Visit Corfu for Good Weather
June and September are the sweet spot for weather. June averages 28°C (82°F) with 20 mm of rain and a sea temperature of 22°C (72°F); September averages 27°C (81°F) with 80 mm of rain and a sea still warm at 24°C (75°F). Both months give you full beach days without the mid-August heat, which regularly pushes 35°C (95°F) in heatwaves. If you specifically want the warmest sea, aim for late August into the first half of September, when the water holds at 24-25°C (75-77°F). For more, see our Corfu neighborhoods guide guide.
Best Time to Visit Corfu for the Lowest Prices
Prices follow demand almost exactly. April, May, and October are the cheapest months where everything is still open: a double room in a three-star hotel that costs €120-160 a night in August drops to €60-80 in May and October, and flights from UK and German hubs run 30-40% cheaper outside the school holidays. November through March is cheapest of all, with rooms from €35-50 a night, but many beach resorts, boat trips, and restaurants close, so you’ll trade price for limited options. Best Time to Visit Corfu to Avoid Crowds
The July-August peak is the busiest: Paleokastritsa’s six beaches fill by 11 am, and the drive up the west coast backs up in the afternoon. For fewer crowds, travel in the second half of May, the first three weeks of June, or the last two weeks of September. In these windows you’ll get daytime highs of 24-28°C (75-82°F), open restaurants, and enough space to park near the main sights. Greek Orthodox Easter (April or early May) is the one off-season exception, when Corfu Town fills with visitors for the famous pot-smashing and processions; book accommodation months ahead if you plan to attend. See our Corfu guide for the full picture.
Best Time to Visit Corfu for Events and Festivals
Easter is the biggest event of the year, drawing thousands to Corfu Town for the Good Friday epitaphios processions and the Great Saturday morning pot-throwing from balconies in the old town. The Corfu Carnival runs through February, and August brings the Varkarola, a floating concert with boats and fireworks in Paleokastritsa bay. For a full list of dated events, see our Corfu events and festivals guide.
Months to Avoid in Corfu and Why
August is the month to avoid if you dislike heat and crowds: highs average 31°C (88°F), heatwaves reach 35°C (95°F) or more, and both flights and hotels are at their most expensive. November is the worst month for rain at 200 mm, and much of the island’s tourism infrastructure closes by mid-November. January and February are cold and wet (14°C/57°F highs, 140-160 mm of rain) with the shortest daylight hours; they suit a quiet off-season town stay, not a beach holiday.
