Corfu sits off Greece’s northwest coast in the Ionian Sea, about 2 km from the Albanian mainland at its nearest point. The island gets roughly 1,200 mm of rain a year, more than double what you’ll find on the Aegean islands, which is why its hills stay green through July and August while places like Mykonos turn brown. Summers are hot and mostly dry, winters are mild and wet, and the sea stays warm enough to swim from June through October. For more, see our things to do in Corfu guide.

Corfu Weather in Winter: December, January, February
Winter is Corfu’s rainy season. December and November are the wettest months at 190-200 mm of rain each, most of it falling in short heavy bursts rather than all-day drizzle. Daytime highs hold around 14-15°C (57-59°F) and nights drop to 6-8°C (43-46°F). You’ll want a warm jacket and a waterproof layer, but you’ll also get clear, sunny days where you can sit outside for lunch. Many hotels and beach restaurants close from November to late March, so base yourself in Corfu Town, which stays open year-round. For more, see our Corfu neighborhoods guide guide.
Corfu Weather in Spring: March, April, May
Spring is the island’s greenest stretch. March averages 16°C (61°F) and 110 mm of rain, but by April the rain drops to 70 mm and highs reach 19°C (66°F). May is the payoff: highs of 24°C (75°F), only 40 mm of rain, and hillsides covered in wildflowers. The sea is still cool at 16-19°C (61-66°F) in April and May, so swimming is for the brave, but hiking, cycling, and sightseeing are ideal. Easter, which falls in April or early May depending on the year, is the single biggest event of the season. For more, see our where to stay in Corfu guide.
Corfu Weather in Summer: June, July, August
Summer is hot and dry. July and August both average 31°C (88°F) by day and 20°C (68°F) at night, with only 10-15 mm of rain across the whole month. Sea temperatures climb from 22°C (72°F) in June to 25°C (77°F) in August, the warmest water of the year. A light afternoon sea breeze, the maistros, usually picks up in the late afternoon and keeps the heat bearable. Sunscreen, a hat, and a siesta through the 2-4 pm peak are non-negotiable in August. For more, see our Corfu travel tips and FAQ guide.
Corfu Weather in Autumn: September, October, November
September is the best month for swimming weather without the peak crowds: highs of 27°C (81°F) and a sea still at 24°C (75°F). Rain returns in October at 140 mm, and November is the wettest month of the year at 200 mm. Thunderstorms become common from mid-October, and by November many beach resorts have shut for the winter. Pack layers if you visit in October or November; mornings can be 14°C (57°F) with afternoons still reaching 20°C (68°F). See our Corfu guide for the full picture.
Corfu Weather by Month: Humidity, Sunshine and Sea Temperature
Humidity runs higher than on the Aegean islands because of all the rainfall, typically 60-70% in summer and up to 75% in winter. July brings about 11-12 hours of sunshine a day, while December and January average only 3-4 hours. Sea temperature follows a predictable curve: it drops to its 15°C (59°F) floor in February and March, then climbs steadily to 25°C (77°F) in August. If you want to swim and also avoid crowds, the second half of September gives you 24°C (75°F) water and half-empty beaches.
