The best months to visit Side are May, June, September, and early October, when daytime temperatures sit between 25 and 31 C, rain is scarce, and the sea is warm enough to swim. Peak summer from July to August brings the hottest weather and the biggest crowds, while winter is cheap but quiet and often wet. For the complete month-by-month picture and area guides, see our full Side travel guide.

Best Time to Visit Side for Good Weather

May and June deliver the most comfortable weather of the year. May averages 25 C with 30 mm of rain, and June reaches 30 C with just 11 mm. The sea warms to 21 C in May and 25 C in June, so swimming is comfortable by late spring. September and early October are the mirror image on the other side of summer: 31 C in September and 27 C in October, with a sea temperature still at 27 C in September. For the full monthly data, read the Side weather by month breakdown.

Best Time to Visit Side for Fewer Crowds

April and late September to October are the quietest months with reliably good weather. The Temple of Apollo and the Roman amphitheatre, the two headline things to do in Side, are nearly empty first thing in the morning in April and May. July and August are the opposite: tour buses arrive in convoy from Antalya and the old town’s narrow streets are packed from late morning to sunset. If you do visit in high season, see the ruins before 9 am, then retreat to the beach. The Side neighborhoods outside the old town are quieter in every season.

Best Time to Visit Side for the Lowest Prices

Prices bottom out from November to March, when many all-inclusive resorts close and hotel rates drop by 40 to 60 percent. The trade-off is rain, over 150 mm per month in November and December, and cool evenings. April and October are the sweet spot: shoulder-season rates with daytime highs of 22 to 27 C. The where to stay in Side guide shows which areas and hotels offer the best value in each season.

Best Time to Visit Side for Events and Festivals

September is the big month for culture. The International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival runs across roughly two weeks in September at the 2,000-year-old Aspendos Theatre, about 40 km from Side, and Side’s own Culture and Art Festival holds open-air concerts in the ancient theatre on the peninsula. Book accommodation early for September if you plan to attend. See the Side events and festivals page for exact dates and what to expect.

Worst Months to Visit Side (and Why)

July and August are the hardest months if you dislike heat and crowds: highs of 33 C, peak hotel prices, and beaches that fill by 10 am. December and January are the worst for weather, with 241 mm and 236 mm of rain respectively, the coldest nights, and many restaurants and resort facilities closed.
