Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes)
The big one. Held annually since 1946, usually the second and third weeks of May (specific dates announced 6 months ahead). The Palais des Festivals becomes the global film industry’s epicenter for 12 days. Films screen in competition for the Palme d’Or across multiple venues including the Grand Théâtre Lumière (2,300 seats). The festival is industry-only; public access is extremely limited. Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity

Nuits Musicales du Suquet
A classical music festival held in the courtyard of the Musée de la Castre atop Le Suquet hill. Runs mid-July through early August with evening concerts starting at 21:00. The setting, with the Bay of Cannes glittering below, is spectacular. The program ranges from chamber music to opera and jazz. Tickets from €25, book online or at the Cannes tourist office. Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique (Fireworks Festival)
Six nights of competitive fireworks displays over the Bay of Cannes, running from mid-July through late August. Each show is a 25-minute choreographed display set to music, launched from barges in the bay. Different countries compete each night. Best free viewing from La Croisette, Plage du Midi, or the Suquet hill. Paid seated viewing on the Palais des Festivals rooftop terrace (around €25). Shows start around 22:00. Pantiero Festival
An electronic and indie music festival held over a late-August weekend at the Espace Pantiero terrace behind the Palais des Festivals. Lineups feature international DJs and bands. Tickets around €40-50 per day. Smaller and more accessible than the big industry festivals. Attracts a younger, predominantly French crowd.

Cannes Yachting Festival
Europe’s largest in-water boat show, held over 6 days in early to mid-September. The Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto fill with 600+ boats ranging from 3-meter tenders to 50-meter superyachts. New model launches from major builders including Benetti, Sanlorenzo, and Sunseeker. Day tickets from €19 online, €22 at the gate. The festival is open to the public; you can board many of the displayed boats. Hotel prices spike for the festival week but normalize immediately after. MIPIM (Marché International des Professionnels de l’Immobilier)
The world’s largest property market, held over 4 days in mid-March. Draws 20,000+ real estate professionals, investors, and government delegations. Hotel prices rise sharply for the MIPIM week but Cannes is otherwise quiet in March.
MIPTV (Marché International des Programmes de Télévision)
The international television market, held over 4 days in early April. TV producers, distributors, and broadcasters from 100+ countries buy and sell programming rights. Similar scale to MIPIM. Industry-only; delegate passes from €900. Hotel availability in Cannes tightens for the MIPTV week but the rest of April is pleasant and reasonably priced.

Festival International de Danse
A dance festival held in late November to early December at the Palais des Festivals and Théâtre Debussy. The program features contemporary and classical dance companies from France and internationally. Tickets from €20.
Cannes Christmas Market (Marché de Noël)
Runs from late November through early January along the Allées de la Liberté. Around 40 wooden chalets selling artisan gifts, regional food (tartiflette, vin chaud, churros), and Christmas decorations. An ice skating rink (€5 including skate rental) operates near the Palais des Festivals. The Ferris wheel on the Esplanade Georges Pompidou gives views across the decorated bay. Free entry.
