Corvo’s weather is the Azores at its most elemental. Corvo Weather in January
January is mid-winter on Corvo with 190mm of rain over 20 days. Highs reach 15°C (59°F) with lows of 11°C (52°F). Wind averages 25-35 km/h with gales on roughly 10 days. The ferry from Flores is unreliable and may not run for days at a time. The tiny airstrip (CVU) sees frequent diversions to Flores when crosswinds exceed limits. The island’s 400 residents hunker down. For visitors, the rewards of making it here in winter are solitude and storm-watching on a scale found nowhere else in Europe.
Corvo Weather in February
Similar to January with 170mm of rain, highs of 15°C (59°F), and persistent wind. Sea temperatures bottom out at 16°C (61°F). The Caldeirão is frequently cloud-filled, and the rim trail is muddy and exposed. February is the quietest month. On the rare clear day, the view from the Caldeirão rim across the empty Atlantic , with Flores a dark shape 25 km to the south , is worth every rained-out day you endured to see it.

Spring begins tentatively with highs of 16°C (61°F), lows of 11°C (52°F), and 150mm of rain. The Caldeirão rim trail becomes passable in stretches, though mud persists. Birdwatchers arrive to observe migratory species passing through. Ferry service begins to run more regularly. The island’s single cafe and guesthouses extend their hours from winter schedules.
Corvo Weather in April
Highs reach 17°C (63°F) with 120mm of rain. The island greens up, and the Caldeirão interior becomes accessible. Bird migration is at its peak. The rim trail is in reasonable condition, though waterproof boots remain essential. Ferry service from Flores stabilises to a regular schedule by late April.
Corvo Weather in May
One of the better months with highs of 19°C (66°F), 100mm of rain, and the Caldeirão rim walk in good condition. Wildflowers carpet the crater. The ferry runs on a predictable schedule. Accommodation is easier to find than in summer. May is a strong candidate for the best month to visit Corvo, balancing reasonable weather with true solitude.
Corvo Weather in June
Summer arrives. Highs reach 21°C (70°F) with 90mm of rain and 6-7 hours of sunshine. The Caldeirão rim walk is at its best. Sea temperatures warm to 19°C (66°F). The island is quiet but accessible. Whale-watching boats from Flores sometimes include Corvo pickups. June is an excellent month.
Corvo Weather in July
July is the driest month at 80mm of rain. Highs reach 23°C (73°F), lows 17°C (63°F). Sea temperatures warm to 21°C (70°F). The Caldeirão rim is at its most accessible. Emigrant families begin to return, and the island’s population briefly swells. Ferry service is at its most reliable. Book guesthouses 1-2 months ahead for July.
Corvo Weather in August
The warmest month with highs of 25°C (77°F), lows of 19°C (66°F), and 90mm of rain. The Festa de Nossa Senhora dos Milagres on August 15 is the island’s biggest event, drawing emigrants back from the US and Canada. Sea temperatures peak at 22°C (72°F). Accommodation is tight: Corvo has fewer than 20 guest rooms. Book 3 months ahead for August.

An outstanding month with highs of 24°C (75°F), 90mm of rain, and warm seas. The summer crowds depart after the first week. The Caldeirão rim is in excellent condition, and the island returns to its quiet, unhurried rhythm. September might be the single best month on Corvo.
Corvo Weather in October
October holds at 22°C (72°F) with 130mm of rain. The first half often delivers extended fine spells. Ferry service remains regular. By late October, Atlantic storms become more frequent, the Caldeirão trail becomes muddy, and some guesthouses close for winter.
Corvo Weather in November
Winter returns with highs of 18°C (64°F), 180mm of rain, and frequent gales. Ferry service becomes unreliable, and the island effectively goes into hibernation. The Caldeirão rim is exposed and often impassable. The village of Vila do Corvo contracts to its winter rhythm: the cafe keeps reduced hours, and visitors are rare.
Corvo Weather in December
December is the wettest month at 200mm with highs of 16°C (61°F). Christmas on Corvo is as remote as it gets: a small celebration in the village church, Atlantic storms outside, and the Caldeirão lakes reflecting winter clouds. For the determined visitor, the solitude is absolute. The ferry may not run for a week or more , plan accordingly.
