Namibia has a predominantly arid climate, with the Namib Desert along the coast and the Kalahari in the east. Windhoek at 1,700m averages 8Β°C in July and 24Β°C in January, with 300 sunny days per year. The Skeleton Coast is cool and foggy year-round due to the cold Benguela Current, with temperatures of 15-20Β°C. Etosha National Park is best visited from May to October (dry season) when animals gather at waterholes. Sossusvlei and the Namib Desert dunes can exceed 40Β°C in summer (November to March) but are pleasant from April to October. The best time to visit is May to October with clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and excellent wildlife viewing.
