Marrakech averages 12°C in January and 28°C in July, with summer highs regularly above 35°C. Casablanca and the Atlantic coast are milder year-round: 13°C in January, 23°C in July, cooled by the Canary Current. The Sahara Desert experiences extreme daily temperature swings: daytime highs of 40°C in summer, nighttime lows near freezing in winter. The High Atlas Mountains get snow from December to March, with Oukaimeden ski resort operating 70km from Marrakech. The best months for most of Morocco are March to May and September to November when temperatures sit between 18°C and 28°C.
