Tonga has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round and two seasons. Nuku’alofa averages 20-30°C, with the dry season from May to October bringing cooler nights and lower humidity. The wet season (November to April) brings higher humidity and the risk of tropical cyclones from January to March. The best time to visit is June to October, with July and August offering the best conditions for whale watching (humpback whales calve in Tongan waters). Water temperatures range from 24°C in winter to 28°C in summer.
