Melbourne is famous for four seasons in one day: summer highs of 26°C, winter highs of 14°C, and weather that can change rapidly. Brisbane and the Gold Coast are subtropical: mild winters (11-21°C) and hot humid summers (21-29°C) with afternoon storms from November to March. Cairns and tropical Queensland have two seasons: dry (April to November, 18-26°C) and wet (December to March, 24-31°C with heavy rain and possible cyclones). Perth has a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers (18-30°C) and mild wet winters (8-18°C). The Red Centre (Uluru, Alice Springs) is best visited from April to September when daytime temperatures are a bearable 20-30°C.
