Ecuador has four distinct regions with radically different climates, all within a country the size of the United Kingdom. Quito at 2,850m has spring-like weather year-round: 10-21°C, with a dry season from June to September and rain from October to May (heaviest in April). Guayaquil on the Pacific coast is hot and humid: 24-32°C year-round, with a rainy season from January to April. The Galapagos Islands have a subtropical climate with two seasons: warm and rainy (December to May, 24-30°C) and cool and dry (June to November, 19-25°C). The Amazon basin is hot (25-33°C) and wet year-round, with slightly less rain from August to December. Cuenca in the southern Andes is cooler than Quito at 8-18°C, with rain spread evenly through the year.
