Jordan has a Mediterranean climate in the northwest highlands, transitioning to arid desert across most of the country. Amman averages 8°C in January and 25°C in July, with most rain falling between November and March. Petra and Wadi Rum are desert environments: summer (June to September) pushes above 35°C with intense sun, while winter (December to February) drops to 3-5°C at night. Aqaba on the Red Sea is Jordan’s winter sun escape: January temperatures of 15-22°C and summer highs of 35-39°C. The best time to visit Jordan is March to May and October to November when daytime temperatures stay between 20°C and 28°C. Winter can bring snow to Amman and flash floods to Petra and Wadi Rum, particularly in January and February.
