Norway’s climate varies from temperate coastal in the west to subarctic inland, shaped by the Gulf Stream and Scandinavian Mountains. The fjord region (Bergen, Stavanger, Alesund) has mild winters with rain rather than snow at sea level, and summer temperatures of 15-20°C. Northern Norway (Tromso, Lofoten Islands) enjoys the midnight sun from late May to late July, with average summer highs of 15°C. Ski season runs November to April in the mountains, with resorts like Trysil and Hemsedal getting reliable snow cover. Northern lights are visible above the Arctic Circle from September to March, with peak season October to February.
